About Us

Horizon Eye Physicians is the dream of Dr. Pranav Patel and Dr. Shruti Aggarwal. We wanted to start an ophthalmology practice to serve the communities in Maryland with the intention of providing world-class care in a personalized manner. Shruti Aggarwal, MD

After finishing medical school, Dr. Aggarwal pursued an ocular surface and corneal research fellowship at Harvard Medical School. She trained at University of Virginia for her ophthalmology residency. She completed her advance fellowship in corneal disease and refractive surgery at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, which is consistently ranked the #1 eye hospital in the United States for the past 20 years. Dr. Aggarwal’s care philosophy to treat all her patients like family and is excited to provide excellent, compassionate care to the communities in Maryland.

Dr. Aggarwal at Horizon Eye Physicians in Maple Lawn (Fulton) is an exemplary physician. She is knowledgeable as well as personable. She engages with ease in a vey genuine manner. My father has been in Dr. Aggarwal’s care for many years, through surgeries and post operative care, and we have only positive things to share about our experience. Dr. Aggarwal is highly knowledgeable and also very personable, taking the time to explain every aspect of his eye health and treatment options in a way that was easy to understand. The surgeries went smoothly, and the results exceeded our expectations. So much so that Mom is now also a patient and I will soon switch to see Dr. Aggarwal too! Back in April of 2023 I had a very severe chemical burn to the right eye at work. I wasn’t happy with the doctors I saw, and the doctors I was following up with. I was able to get in touch with Dr. Aggarwal through another eye physician, she agreed to take my case and since then she has been nothing but kind and helpful with anything I need. She is very quick to schedule and respond when needed and very professional. I recently had to have my eye removed due to complications but she has since reached out and asked if I needed anything. Awesome experience. The staff was super friendly, welcomed me in and took great care of me to get my eye measurements taken right away. Then Dr. Aggarwal came and evaluated me for PRK treatment. She was incredibly nice, knowledgeable, and I felt well taken care of. She explained all the details and took her time to answer all questions. I never felt rushed. This is the eye doctor for me!! Dr. Aggarwal performed Cataract surgery on my left eye. Not only is she an excellent surgeon, but explained and prepared me for what to expect in terms I understood. I was a little nervous as my right eye had cataract surgery with a different surgeon and it did not go well...I ended up with a corneal transplant. I cannot say enough about his expertise (being a Fellow of Dr. Stephen Foster of Uveitis.org) as well as being warm, caring and working us, as the parents, to come up with the best treatment plan for our daughter. He's down to earth and never rushes us. He sees patients in multiple locations and even though he's an hour from our home, he's worth the drive!
